Yoga and Dance with Horses (Intro Class)

EquusLibere Embodiment Series Presents:

Yoga and Dance with Horses (Intro Class)

***Description***

This practice will take place outdoors on a beautiful 55 acre ranch-retreat facility overlooking the front range.

Our session will begin with meditative walk together through the property to our practice area, during which context will be shared on horses, the herd system, and the unique opportunities present and possible sharing practice space with the herd.

Our practice will take place in an an enclosed area at the center of a large paddock, which holds a 15-member horse herd loose and free in their home environment.

Amidst the backdrop of the front range, and at the center of the herd, we will begin our practice with an opening circle followed by a guided movement practice.

The movement practice will blend yoga, dance, and other breath and somatic practices that tap into the subtle, the primal, the unique sensitivities of the ‘horse body’ alive in our bodies.

The practice will conclude with self-guided exploration with herd and a group close.

To learn more about the 'why' behind integrative movement practices with horses, please explore the following blog post:

https://www.equuslibere.com/blog/why-partner-with-horses

***Details***

Nov 7 from 1:30-3 PM

$35 pp

Max of 8 participants.

To register, please reach out to us through our contact form.

No horse experience is necessary.

Please note that while we will be in an enclosed space within the horse paddocks, our practice will be hands off practice with the horses.

Our hands on yoga, meditation, and movement practices with horses involve fewer participants for safety reasons and a different series of practices that support a unique, hands on practice of movement and dance with horses.

If you are interested in participating in a hands on practice with the horses, please see our upcoming event titled ‘Yoga and Dance with Horses (Hands On, Intensive).’ It is recommended to begin with the intro class before participating in the intensive.

***Covid Safety Measures***

Our practice will take place outdoors within a large enclosure.
When within 6 feet, masks are required; when outside of that space, masks can come down.
Any participants feeling unwell or exciting possible Covid symptoms are requested to stay home.

***About the EquusLibere Embodiment Series***

The EquusLibere Embodiment Series offers experiences blending movement and somatic awareness practices, presence and engagement with horses, and self-inquiry processes. These processes create a powerful combination for nervous system regulation and the identification of intangible yet powerful underlying dynamics in ourselves and the relationships we inhabit. Through co-creative practices with the horses, participants are able to work with these dynamics made visible through feedback from the horses. Each session is an opportunity for meditation and experimentation with the undercurrents in our minds, bodies, and relationships. Each practice opens space to step into our embodied capacity for choice around the states we want to create.

EquusLibere Embodiment Series Presents:

Yoga and Dance with Horses (Hands on, Intensive)

***Description***

This practice will take place in an indoor arena on our beautiful 55 acre ranch-retreat facility. Please note that the arena can be heated if needed for colder temperatures.

After a safety demonstration and a share of helpful context on horses and practices that blend horses and movement, we will enter into the indoor arena space with several kind, safe equine companions loose in the space.

Our practice will begin with an opening meditation and circle within the arena, giving participants an opportunity to connect and set intentions for the practice.

The opening will be followed by a guided, hands on and hands off interactive practice that incorporates yoga, dance, and other breath and somatic practices that tap into the subtle, the primal, the unique sensitivities of the ‘horse body’ alive in our bodies.

As participants enter more deeply into presence with their own bodies and what’s alive within them, participants will be invited into co-creative hands on and hands off movement exercises with the horses. These exercises offer an opportunity to bring their inner experiences into a dynamic, co-creative conversation with the horses.

The practice will conclude with a group close, opportunity to share insights and reflections, and closing.

Registration Full - Partner with Horses to Empower your Leadership & Vision for this New Year

As we enter into 2020, each of us has aspects of our lives, personally and professionally, that are emerging through us, whether they are personal lifestyle goals, new businesses about to be launched, readying to enter into a new romantic relationship.. you name it.

This workshop merges equine facilitated learning practices with Theory U and is an opportunity to explore what is present at this time of endings and new beginnings and to dive deeply into what we are called to be and create individually and collectively this coming year.

Noting that we will be in a heated indoor arena for the majority of the experience, so we will be warm regardless of outdoor temperature.

Equine facilitated learning involves groundwork exercises that unite horse and human in a collaborative co-learning process that reveals the way participants relate to themselves and others and offers a practice ground for embodied growth. Through partnering with the horses, participants explore self-inquiry, deep listening, boundaries, self-mastery, collaborative leadership, non-predatory uses of power, and more. Immediate and actionable feedback from the horses facilitates the integration of new leadership styles and behaviors in real-time.

This workshop merges these elements of equine learning with Theory U, which is a process for the development of personal and organizational initiatives developed by Otto Scharmer of MIT. Theory U offers a specific process for sensing into what is emergent within our personal and professional initiatives, crystallizing and clarifying what is ready to take shape, and identifying a plan for taking effective action.

The session will involve meditative, hands-off introductory exercises interwoven with hands-on relational exercises (in Theory U terms - sensing, deepening levels of listening in relationship, and presencing) followed by more hands-on, individual and group performative exercises (crystallizing, prototyping, and performing) designed to illuminate what we are being called to bring forth, and how these initiatives can best take shape.

Throughout the exercises you will receive translated, real-time feedback from the horses that offer powerful insights on your unique leadership style and illuminate opportunities and blind spots around the initiatives that are emerging.

There are 6 spaces available!

The cost is $135/participant (plus Eventbrite ticket fees).

No horse experience is necessary (in fact, often less is better!) and all activities take place on the ground. We work with a wonderful herd of horses that are well handled, good-natured, and specifically chosen for their suitability for these kinds of activities. This experience is a great opportunity to connect in with the local Theory U community and experience unique insights through equine facilitated learning.

The event is open to members of our local Theory U u.lab hub as well as to the public. In order to prioritize accessibility, this event is sliding scale $30-60.

Please note that participants will be sent the Longmont, CO ranch address upon registration.
