Horse herds have evolved as matriarchal systems, in which leadership is typically an older female supported by a movable hierarchy of both genders. This leadership role, and the bodies that inhabit it, do not lead by sheer strength, desire for power, and the ability to outsmart or subjugate.
They lead by vast sensory perceptiveness, care for all herd members, deep capacity for self-regulation, careful discernment of congruence and incongruence, and swift, skillful communication with herd members.
Each practice - from dance, to running, to seated meditation - has unique qualities and benefits cultivated in our bodies. This practice is designed to support participants in being embodied students of the unique, evolutionary qualities that have enabled the survival, resilience, and thriving of horses for 55 million years.
During this practice, you will explore what it feels like to step into your own empowered horse body.
.
To step into this horse body is to cultivate this steady, finely tuned, perceptive place of integrated awareness.
Awareness that is deeply connected to self and a capacity to read the living field we are all a part of. Awareness that includes the bodies and nervous systems of ourselves and of those surrounding us. Awareness that can discern, manage, and take responsibility for choosing and owning our states and outcomes they create.
To step into our horse body is to access our senses of embodied knowing. It is to be able to read congruence and incongruence in ourselves and others, and to discern skillful action of what is and is not supportive for heath and growth. It is to inhabit a different sense of time, in which we let go of senses of urgency, anxiety, and will that are not in service.
Cultivating this state enables new ways of being and acting to emerge through us, action that is in service to ourselves and to the whole.

Details:
This 2 hour practice will take place on a beautiful 55 acre ranch-retreat facility overlooking the front range.
We will begin with some context on horses, the herd system, and the unique qualities of equine bodies and their evolutionary wisdom.
After an opening circle and check in, and in the presence of some wise equine companions, the group will be guided on a somatic journey of cultivating the wisdom of the horse body.
Please note that while there will be interaction with the horses, the focus will be on a hands off awareness practice.
